The 1999 Cunning Clayton’s referendum

“Do you agree to altering the Constitution to establish the Commonwealth of Australia as a republic with the Queen and Governor-General being replaced by a President appointed by a two-thirds majority of the members of the Commonwealth Parliament”?

Given the innuendo of still being called a Commonwealth and the  limited choice of reform,

It was surprising that anyone voted yes.

 

Had the question been

“Do you agree to altering the Constitution to establish as a parliamentary Republic with the Queen/King and Governor-General being replaced by a President elected by the people”?

Australia would have been an independent republic for the last 25 years.

NewARP only will give  its preferernces to Parties or Independents who support the Republic.

It is opposed to any state head of state being elected by the government of the day.

 

Since the 1999 deceit/defeat, our leaders and or our potential leaders  meekly chose

to sleep until the Queen dies before re tackling the Republic cause;

to eat dominion pie until the cook croaks.

Consequently previous worthy attempts to establish a republic, have not been able to stir any apathetic noodle’s soup.

The previous Australia Republic Party has been registered and deregistered about three times over the last two decades

because of lackluster support.

Queen Elizabeth died in September 22/2000 and yet there is still no movement at the station.

Our flag ,masthead and bumper sticker has the internationally recognized

and respected symbol of boomerangs.

A flood of our bumper stickers on cars heralds a republic.

Out of all the tribes that threw sticks at food, one tribe of hunters recognized

that some sticks flew better than others and began modifying them.

Just as surfers sculpt surfboards with razors from foam to ride the waves,

the Aborigines sculpted boomerangs with stone axes from hardwood to ride the wind.

They pioneered aerodynamic lift 5 millennia before the Wright brothers.

Money for Jam

Australia is one of the best low-risk countries to invest in, securing seventh place in a global ranking of investment safety.

“The country's political stability score of 0.92 reflects its mature democratic system and reliable governance structures,

while its investment attractiveness rating of 81.9 highlights its appeal to global capital.

It is in the top three for mineral resource investment. The others are Canada and the United States.

Despite all these credentials our government’s continue to beg for foreign investors, giving them privilege upon privilege

Hence it rates top of the world’s ‘money for jam’ list by a country mile.

 

Australia and Qatar are is the world’s major gas exporter.

Both export similar volumes of LNG with Qatar forecasting 2 6.6 billion in compensation ;

Australia is forecasting 800 million.

We are selling Gas at 8% of market value

We are losing 2% of LPG anually.

A significant portion of exported gas (56%) is not subject to royalties,

meaning gas companies pay nothing for the right to extract and sell this gas. 

This "gas giveaway" has resulted in billions of dollars in potential revenue forgone by the Australian government. 

That is $13 billion annually.

We have given so much away so cheaply that we don't have enough for ourselves,

Ignomoniously we have to buy back (even beg back) some of what we've exported at retail value.

Both Liberal and Labour parties are complicit in this debacle.

Only as a republic will Australia have the  muscle to plug our big sinks.
